WHAT WE DO
Welcome to the ACF; we appreciate your interest and support. ACF is a non-profit, operating foundation which provides free legal services to achieve two main purposes:
1. CHILD SUPPORT FOR AMERICAN CHILDREN:
* to obtain child support for a child, born and living abroad, to an American father who has abandoned his child;
2. CITIZENSHIP RECOGNITION FOR AMERICAN CHILDREN BORN ABROAD
* to secure official recognition of their U.S. citizenship for these children.
HOW WE DO IT
ACF's objectives are achieved by the donation of professional services by lawyers throughout the United States. In child support cases, support orders or judgments may only be obtained from the state court in which the child's father lives. Citizenship services are provided centrally from ACF's home office as all such processing is with the Citizenship & Immigration Services Department of the federal government, aka the CIS. ACF's lawyers are not paid; their services are contributed to ACF.
ACF is an operating foundation. The money raised is spent directly on our programs and not awarded as grants to another charitable organization. Our programs are directed toward our two main purposes of child support and citizenship for American children. We coordinate the needs of mothers and children around the world with the professional services of American lawyers in the United States. There are thousands of such American children who lack the financial support they need to have a decent life.
